Lavinia Wilson: Back Alley, Brick Against Her Back

Key takeaways

  • Anchor each scene to one body-level detail.
  • Let dialogue carry the heat, not the narration.
  • End on a small, human beat after the climax.

Lavinia Wilson Walks In

The bar smelled like wet coats and cheap rye. Lavinia Wilson came through the door at half past eleven, denim jacket, black boots, hair tucked behind one ear like she had better things to do than be looked at. She was twenty-eight and moved like she knew the room already. Marcus clocked her from the end of the counter, beer halfway to his mouth. She caught him looking. Didn't smile. Just held it a beat too long, then ordered. That was the whole invitation. He slid one stool over. She let him. When she turned, her knee brushed his and stayed there. "You always stare like that?" she said. "Only when it's worth it," he said. She snorted. "That line works?" "Sometimes." "Not tonight," she said, but she was still turned toward him, still close enough that he could smell smoke and something clean underneath.

Smoke, Rye, and a Stare

They talked shit for twenty minutes. She drank rye, no ice, and gave him half a grin every time he said something dumb. He asked what she did. She said warehouse shifts and too much thinking. He said he fixed bikes. She said, "So you're handy." He said, "I try to be." She laughed, real and low, and put her glass down. The bar was getting loud. Some guy near the jukebox was singing wrong on purpose. Marcus leaned in. "You want to get out of here?" Lavinia looked at him like she was checking the math. "Your place or mine?" "Mine's closer," he said. "Mine's cleaner," she said. "Then mine." She grabbed her jacket. He put a hand on the small of her back on the way to the door, light, asking. She didn't pull away. Out on the sidewalk the air hit cold and sharp. She turned. "We're not doing the slow walk thing, right?" "No," he said. "Good."

Back Alley, Brick Against Her Back

The alley behind the bar was brick and bad light. He kissed her before the door even shut, one hand on her jaw, the other flat on the wall. She kissed back hard, teeth and rye, and shoved his jacket off his shoulders. He got hers open, palms on her ribs through the thin shirt. She was warm and solid and breathing fast. "You good?" he asked, mouth at her ear. "Yeah," she said. "Keep going." He slid a hand down her stomach, under the waistband, and found her already wet. She hissed through her teeth and rocked into his fingers. He worked slow, thumb circling, two fingers curling. Her head went back against the brick. "Don't rush it," she said. "Wasn't going to," he said. She grabbed his wrist and held it there, riding it out until her breath broke. Then she pushed his hand away, laughing. "Cab," she said. "Now. Before I change my mind."

The Cab Ride She Didn't Plan

In the cab she sat close enough to be in his lap. The driver had the radio on low and didn't care. Marcus put his hand on her thigh, high, and she spread her knees a little. "Tease," she said. "You started it in the alley," he said. She turned her face into his neck and bit him, soft. He slid his hand higher, just under the hem of her skirt, and felt the heat coming off her. "You're gonna make this hard," she said. "That's the idea." She whispered something dirty about what she wanted and he had to look out the window to keep his head. When the cab stopped, he paid and they spilled out. Her place was a walk-up with a busted light. She got the key in on the second try. "You still good?" he asked, hand on the doorframe. She looked back at him, mouth red, eyes bright. "I'm good. Get in here."

Bedroom Door, No More Games

Inside, the apartment was small and warm and smelled like her. She kicked her boots off. He backed her to the bed and pulled her shirt over her head. No ceremony. She unbuttoned his jeans and shoved them down. He rolled a condom on while she watched, and she pulled him down by the neck. The first push made her grunt and dig her nails into his shoulder. "Fuck," she said. "Yeah?" "Yeah. Move." He did. Slow at first, then harder, her heels locked behind his back. She talked the whole time, low and filthy, telling him what she liked, telling him not to stop. He got a hand under her hip and tilted her up and she broke off mid-sentence, eyes going wide. "Right there," she said. "Don't you dare stop." He didn't. She came with a long shudder and a hand over her own mouth. He followed a few strokes later, face buried in her neck. Then he rolled off, both of them breathing like they'd run stairs. She laughed at the ceiling. "Okay," she said. "Okay."

Morning After, Coffee and Bruises

Morning came gray and annoying. Lavinia was already up, in an old t-shirt, making coffee in a chipped pot. There was a bruise coming up on her collarbone and her hair was a mess. Marcus sat up, found his jeans. "You want some?" she asked, nodding at the pot. "Yeah." She poured two cups and handed him one. No big speech. She leaned against the counter and looked at him over the rim. "You snore," she said. "You kick," he said. "Fair." They drank. The radiator clanked. She had a shift at ten and he had a bike to finish. "So," she said. "So," he said. She smiled, small and real. "Same time next week?" "Yeah," he said. "Same time." She walked him to the door and kissed him once, quick, like it was already a habit. Then she shut it. He heard the lock and smiled all the way down the stairs.

How do you keep a scene-by-scene piece from feeling like a list?

Give every scene its own small turn. A look, a decision, a hand that moves or doesn't. If a scene only repeats the last one, cut it or fold it into the next beat.

What makes dirty talk on the page sound natural?

Keep it short and specific. Real people repeat themselves and break off mid-sentence. Let the talk react to what is happening instead of narrating it like a manual.

How do you write consent without killing the heat?

Bury it in the action. A question at the right moment, a hand that waits, a yes that comes out rough. Consent can be one line and still feel like foreplay.
