Leah Thompson Nude: Setting the Room

The call was seven in the morning and the loft was still cold. North-facing window, white wall, a wooden chair with a busted rung, a bed pushed against the plaster with one grey sheet on it. That was the whole set. Mara shot it, one assistant held the reflector, and nobody else was in the room. No crowd, no phones, no running commentary from the sidelines.

Leah came in a hoodie and track pants, coffee in one hand, hair loose, no makeup. She walked the room first, checked the window, sat on the bed, bounced once, nodded. They talked through the shape of the day — chair, bed, wall, floor — and where her limits sat. Then she kicked her shoes off, dropped the robe on the chair back, and got to work. The hoodie came off before Mara even raised the camera.

The First Set: Chair and Window

She hooked her thumbs in the hem and pulled the hoodie over her head in one go, then unclipped the bra and let it hang off one shoulder before sliding it down her arm. The cold hit her fast. Small breasts, nipples pulled tight, goosebumps up both forearms. She sat sideways in the chair, one leg over the armrest, and Mara moved the light until it raked across her ribs and left the rest of her in shadow.

"Arm up. Chin to the window. Don't smile." She did it. The light found the line of her throat and the soft dip under her collarbone, and the shutter went off like a door closing. She laughed, broke the pose, reset. Second run was better — hand flat on her thigh, knees apart, eyes half shut. By the end of the set she was standing behind the chair, forearms on the backrest, leaning in, breasts pressed to the wood, ass pushed out. Mara shot low and shot fast. Leah held it until the last frame, then stood up and shook her arms out.

Second Scene: The Bed and the Sheet

The sheet was the whole idea here and it did about half the work. Leah lay on her side, sheet pulled to her hip, one arm under her head. Mara wanted the gap where the sheet slipped and the hip bone showed. It took three goes to get the drape right — too high and it looked like a catalogue, too low and the shape got lost.

Then she rolled onto her stomach and the sheet went off the bed entirely. She arched her back, cheek on her forearm, and the light ran straight down her spine and over her ass, and the shutter kept going. Mara crouched for that one, shooting up from floor level so the line of her body stacked against the white wall. Leah turned over after that, one knee up, hand under her head, sheet dragged back across her belly. Pubic hair, stomach, the long muscle of her thigh — nothing hidden, nothing fussed over. She asked to see the back of the camera, scrolled twice, nodded, handed it back.

Third Scene: Standing, Full Length

Wall next. Arms overhead, weight dumped into her left hip, chin down. The window threw her shadow across the plaster and Mara let it sit in the frame, big and soft and crooked. Leah held the stretch until her shoulders started to shake, then dropped her arms and shook them out.

"Profile. Hand on your stomach. Eyes closed." She turned, hand flat below her navel, and the light caught the edge of her breast and the curve of her back in one line. Then she faced the camera again, chin tucked, arms loose at her sides, and just breathed. Mara told her to breathe out, not in — the ribs drop, the shoulders drop, the whole body softens. The shutter clicked twice and Leah said, "That one felt good," and meant the frame, not the pose.

Wardrobe Drop and the Long Break

Robe on, water, radiator up. The room had gone from cold to close and Leah stood by the window with the robe open, cooling off. Mara pulled the last twenty frames up on the screen and they went through them together — one thing to change, not five. Move the chair out of the corner, keep the reflector lower, stop shooting the shadow so hard.

Leah took a lap around the loft, re-tied her hair, sat on the floor with her back to the radiator for a minute. The assistant swapped the reflector and taped a cable down. Nobody rushed her. That's the whole trick with nude work — the break isn't dead time, it's the reset. She came back warm, loose, and a little sharper than before.

Last Frame and the Wrap

The final set was on the floor by the window, knees up, arms wrapped around her shins, light falling on her collarbone and the side of her cheek. Mara shot it clean and quiet. Then, "One more — open up a little." Leah let her knees drop apart, looked straight down the lens, and the shutter went once.

"That's it. We're done." She stayed there a second, then reached for the robe and pulled it on without bothering with the tie. They checked the last frames together, agreed on the cut, and she was in her track pants before the radiator had even cooled. The chair went back against the wall, the sheet got folded, and the room went back to being a room.

How long does a nude shoot like this usually run?

It depends on the sets and how fast the model warms up. This one ran a half day with a long break in the middle, and the break did more for the frames than an extra hour of shooting would have.

What should a model bring to a nude shoot?

A robe, loose clothes that don't leave marks, water, and a pair of flat shoes. Bring a plan for your limits too, and say them out loud before the camera comes up, not after.

Does the room need to be warm for nude work?

Yes. Cold skin goes tight and grey and the model spends the whole shoot shivering instead of posing. Heat the room before call time, keep a robe within arm's reach, and turn the radiator up at every break.
