Michele Borth at the Laundromat

Eleven at night, the laundromat on Vestry is all hot air and bad fluorescent light. Michele Borth sits on the folding table with her boots swinging, denim jacket torn at the elbow, grease still under her nails from the bike shop. Dani feeds quarters into the dryer like she is mad at it. They are the only two people in the place. The machines thump. Michele watches the way Dani's tank top sticks to her back and does not hide it.

Dani catches her. 'You staring?'

'Hard not to.'

Dani laughs, sits on the bench beside her, close enough that their knees knock. The heat from the dryers makes the room feel smaller. Michele hooks a finger under the hem of Dani's shirt, asks if she can look at the tattoo on her ribs. Dani says yeah, lifts her arm. Michele's thumb brushes the curve of her breast through cotton, slow, deliberate. Dani's breath goes shallow. 'You gonna keep teasing me or what?' Michele leans in, mouth at her ear. 'Depends. You got time?' Dani nods. The dryer buzzes. Neither moves.

The Bar Stays Open

They end up two blocks over, in a bar with sticky floorboards and a jukebox that only plays sad shit. Michele orders rye, Dani a beer. They shoot pool badly and laugh about it. Michele racks the balls, then crowds Dani against the table edge, cue forgotten. Dani's hand slides under Michele's jacket, nails dragging light across her back. Michele kisses her, open-mouthed, no rush, tongue sliding in like they have all night.

Dani's fingers find the waistband of Michele's jeans. She pops the button with one thumb. Michele pulls back just enough to talk. 'You good?'

'Yeah. Keep going.'

Michele gets a hand under Dani's skirt, palm flat on her thigh, moving up until her fingertips hit the damp edge of her underwear. Dani makes a small sound into Michele's mouth. The bartender yells last call. They ignore him.

The Alley Gets Loud

Out back, the alley smells like rain and old brick. Michele lifts Dani against the wall, thigh wedged between her legs. Dani grinds down, slow at first, then harder. Michele's hand is still under her skirt, fingers sliding through wet cotton, then under it. Dani gasps when Michele pushes two fingers in, deep and steady, thumb finding her clit.

'That okay?' Michele asks.

'Don't stop.'

Dani's head drops back against the brick. Michele kisses her throat, feels her clench and shake, hears the broken little moan when she comes. Then Dani slides down the wall, drops to her knees on the concrete, and gets Michele's jeans open. She takes her in her mouth, slow and sloppy, one hand working the base. Michele's palm slaps the brick. 'Fuck, Dani.' Dani hums around her, pulls off just long enough to say 'You gonna come?' Michele nods, breath ragged. Dani takes her deep again and does not let up until Michele's hips stutter and she spills with a rough groan.

Michele Borth Takes It Slow

Back at Michele's place, the shower is too hot and they keep stealing the water from each other. Michele washes Dani's back, hands soapy and lazy. Dani turns around, presses her wet body close, kisses her like the alley never happened. They fall into bed still damp.

Dani rolls a condom on and sinks down slow, braced on Michele's chest. Michele's hands find her hips, guiding, not rushing. The room is quiet except for breath and the wet slide of them. Dani leans down, forehead to forehead. 'This good?'

'Yeah. Real good.'

Michele shifts her hips up, meets her stroke for stroke. Dani's rhythm breaks first. She comes with a low curse, nails biting Michele's shoulder. Michele follows a few thrusts later, holding Dani tight, face buried in her neck.

Morning, No Rush

Morning comes gray through the blinds. Michele makes coffee in a chipped mug and hands it over without asking. Dani sits on the counter in Michele's old T-shirt, hair a mess, grinning at nothing.

'You always pick up girls at the laundromat?' Dani asks.

'Only when they fight the dryer.'

Dani laughs. Michele leans in and kisses her, coffee breath and all. No big speech. Just the two of them, warm and easy, the night still humming under their skin.

How do you keep a scene-by-scene piece from reading like a summary?

Stay in the room. Give each beat one concrete detail, like the dryer buzz or the brick against Dani's back, and let the action carry the pace instead of explaining it.

How do you write consent without killing the heat?

Keep it short and in voice. A quick 'You good?' and a 'Don't stop' does the job and keeps the rhythm moving.

How should the explicit beats be paced?

Build in layers. Start with hands and clothes, slow the dialogue down, then go explicit. Give the reader one breath between peaks before the next scene.
